Editorial note
Behind this project stands an independent restaurant collective with backgrounds in hospitality, food culture, travel and guest experience. Over many years we have observed, accompanied and worked with kitchens, concepts and service cultures at very different levels.
With Blind Bites we want to take a different path: independent, quiet and free from the usual mechanisms of classical restaurant ratings.
We award no stars, no standardised rankings, and follow no trends. What interests us is not the volume of a name, but only the experience itself — the attitude of a house, the quality of its produce, the precision of the kitchen, the sincerity of the service, and the feeling a place leaves behind.
Every visit is fully anonymous. No one knows who is at the table, or that we are reporting. Every bill is paid by us. There are no bought recommendations and no paid placements. That is where our independence lies.
Many guides speak of independence — while financing themselves through paid placements, memberships or commercial partnerships with the very restaurants they review. Visibility becomes a product, and trust quietly erodes. We deliberately want the opposite.
Blind Bites exists exclusively in digital form and understands itself as an independent platform for honest restaurant reports worldwide.
“Honest recommendations for people who are looking for real hospitality.”
Currently reporting

Paris · France
Eight courses that arrive like a quiet conversation. The langoustine was the kind of dish that makes you forget the room around you.

Berlin · Germany
A converted atelier in the back courtyards of Mitte. Candlelight does most of the talking; the kitchen finishes the sentence.

Lyon · France
A neighbourhood bistro that locals try to keep to themselves. Twelve seats, one chef, no pretence — exactly as it should be.
The Hidden Score
Five honest pillars, weighed equally. No stars-for-friends, no influencer maths. Just a number that means something.
What lands on the plate, and how honest it tastes.
The room, the light, the music — the way a place feels.
Warmth, timing, attention. The art of being looked after.
What you paid versus what you actually received.
Will you remember this dinner in six months? In six years?

How we report
“The focus should stay on the experience — not on the people behind the report.”
Anonymous visits
Every reservation made under a different name. No comped meals, no staff briefings.
Real experiences only
We pay our own bill, every time. The receipt is the proof.
No paid rankings
Our score cannot be bought. Sponsored content is always clearly marked.
Experience over destruction
We write to illuminate, not to punish. If a place isn't worth your time, we simply don't publish it.
